Frame rate
- The frame rate for screen shares in the browser is 30 FPS.
- The frame rate for screen shares on the Mac app is 24 FPS, and Business plan users can adjust it to 25 FPS or 29.97 FPS.
Resolution
- The maximum resolution for screen shares recorded in the browser is 1920x1080. If the screen you share is larger, Riverside scales it down to fit and keeps its original aspect ratio.
- As the aspect ratio stays the same, a screen that is not 16:9 records at a slightly smaller size. For example, a 16:10 display records at 1728x1080, and not 1920x1080.
- The resolution matches what you choose to share. A single window or browser tab records at that window's size, which is usually smaller than 1080p and often not 16:9.
- If your screen share records below 1080p, check your computer's display scaling settings. Scaling above 100% lowers the resolution the browser captures.
- The maximum resolution for tracks recorded on the Mac app is up to 4K, depending on the resolution of the screen being recorded.
Record a screen share in 1080p
To successfully record a browser screen share at the full 1920x1080 resolution:
- Use a 16:9 monitor with the display resolution set to 1920x1080 and scaling set to 100%.
- When you share your screen, choose entire screen instead of a window or browser tab.
- While recording, keep the shared screen the same size. Each time its dimensions change, a new screen share track is created at the new size.
