Can I change the volume for part of a track?

Yes, you are able to change the volume for only a part of a track by making a cut and adjusting the volume for that segment.

Step by step

Adjust volume for a track segment

1. Open a recording in the Editor.
2. On the right side of the timeline toolbar, click the Expand tracks icon. 
3. In the timeline, select the track and use the Split tool to make cuts on either side of the segment you want to adjust the volume for.
4. Click ••• [the three dots] in the top right corner of the cut segment.
5. In the Volume & Effects panel, adjust the volume.
   Only the selected segment will be effected by the volume adjustments.
   

Good to know

• You can mute a track segment, or use one of our other tools to normalize audio on your recording, or remove unwanted background noise.
