Sync data manually
To sync your webinar data to Marketo, you'll need to map it to an existing Marketo program. If you don't have one yet, create it in Marketo first and set the program type to Event and the channel to Webinar.
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Navigate to the relevant studio.
- From the side bar on the left, click Planner.
- On the calendar, find the scheduled webinar and click it to open the event summary.
- In the bottom right corner of the window, click Manage webinar.
- Click the Audience tab.
- In the right corner of the Registrants page, click Sync to.
- Click Marketo.
The Marketo sync settings panel opens. - Under Marketo program, choose an existing program from the dropdown.
- Under Field mapping, match Riverside fields to Marketo fields.
- Standard fields (first name, last name, email, phone, and country) map automatically to their matching Marketo fields.
- To sync a custom registration field, like company or job title, click its dropdown and choose a Marketo field.
- Leave a field's dropdown empty if you don't want it to sync.
- Click Save.
Registrants now sync to the Marketo program you selected, using any field mapping you set. Each registrant is created or updated as a lead, and their program member status updates automatically after the webinar based on attendance.
The status of your sync shows in the table. If you run into an error, follow the steps provided and contact Support if necessary.
Update your sync settings
- Open the Audience tab for the relevant webinar.
- In the right corner of the Registrants page, click Sync to.
- Click Sync settings.
The Marketo sync settings panel opens. - Update the Marketo program, Field mapping, or the Sync registrants to Marketo toggle.
To pause sync for this webinar, for example during an internal or test run, turn off Sync registrants to Marketo. Registrants who already synced to Marketo aren't affected, and you can turn sync back on at any time. - Click Save.
Good to know
- Riverside can't create Marketo programs or custom fields automatically. Create these in Marketo before mapping to them in Riverside.
- Email is always the match key Riverside uses to prevent duplicate leads. Its mapping can't change.
- The field mapping dropdown only shows Marketo fields with a matching data type, so a text field, for example, can't map to a date field.
- Once you've mapped your webinar to a Marketo program, Riverside syncs your data automatically before your event starts.
- A final full sync runs after the event ends to include complete attendance details. Automatic sync stops after the final post-event sync.
