No, aspect ratio can't be changed while you're recording in the studio, but you can change it afterward in the editor, or set it before you start if you're recording on mobile.
This applies whether you're recording in the Mac app or in a browser. If your camera is physically set to a different orientation (for example, 9:16), the studio doesn't detect that and records in its standard orientation anyway.
To change the aspect ratio, you have two options:
- After recording: Open the recording in the web editor and change the aspect ratio there.
- On mobile: Set your device to portrait or landscape before joining the studio. Once the session starts, orientation is locked and can't be changed mid-recording.
Good to know
- This is separate from live streaming's multi-aspect-ratio support. That feature controls the orientation of your live stream to each destination, not the aspect ratio of the video file the studio actually records.
- If you plan to record in 9:16, set that up on mobile before joining. There's currently no equivalent setting for Mac or browser recordings.
