Step by step
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Navigate to the relevant studio.
- From the sidebar on the left, click Hosting.
- Locate the published episode and click ••• [the three dots].
- Select Edit.
The episode panel opens. - In the preview window, click the
trash icon in the top right corner.
A Before you remove this file window pops up explaining what happens if you remove the file.
If your podcast has a connected YouTube channel and the episode includes video, removing the file will replace the YouTube video. This deletes the old video, uploads the new one, and resets its analytics, comments, and link. Leave it cleared to keep the current YouTube video and swap everywhere else. - To remove the file, click Got it.
- In the episode panel, select a Riverside file or upload an external file.
The new file must be under 10 GB and shorter than 180 minutes (3 hours). - Click Save.
A confirmation appears: "Your episode is being updated."
The current episode stays live until the new file finishes processing, and it can take up to an hour for the change to appear across your platforms (up to 24 hours on Apple Podcasts or Spotify).
Good to know
- If a swap fails to process, the episode keeps serving its previous file and stays published.
- Once a swap completes, it can't be undone from the dashboard.
- Swapping a file doesn't reset the episode. It keeps the same link and its existing history everywhere, including on YouTube, unless you choose to replace the YouTube video too.
- Listeners who already downloaded the previous file keep that copy. They don't automatically get the new one.
