Follow these steps when:
- You're not able to see your thumbnail on podcast distribution platforms like Apple, Spotify, or YouTube
Likely causes:
A missing thumbnail may be a result of a temporary server-side issue, a misunderstanding of thumbnail sources, a silently converted non-conforming file.
Suggested troubleshooting steps
- For episodes embedded on your own site, re-select and re-save the thumbnail from Hosting > [episode] > Embed.
- Upload the thumbnail at 1280x720 and under 2MB, which matches Apple/Spotify's specifications.
- If a newly-uploaded thumbnail doesn't appear right away, wait and check again in a few minutes.
- Make sure you've uploaded your thumbnail file in the correct way:
- Apple/Spotify: episode thumbnails are auto-filled from the podcast cover art
- YouTube: must be custom added
- For episodes imported from another host before switching to Riverside, upload a square-format cover image.
