Hosting: Upload and publish new episode

Publish your episode from Riverside to your connected listening platforms, or schedule it for a later release.

Step by step

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Navigate to the relevant studio.
  3. From the sidebar on the left, click Hosting.
  1. On the right side of the screen, click + New.

  2. To add an episode thumbnail, hover over the podcast cover art and click the edit-2.svg edit icon.
    The episode thumbnail applies to Apple Podcasts and Spotify only.
  3. Enter the episode title.

  4. Select a Riverside file or upload an external file.
    Each file must be under 10 GB and shorter than 180 minutes (3 hours).

  5. Under Description, enter the episode description.
    Note that not all listening platforms support rich formatting.

  6. Under Season number, enter a number (optional).

  7. Under Episode number, enter a number (optional).

  8. Under Type, choose the episode type from the dropdown: Normal episode, Bonus, or Trailer.
  9. Under Content warning, toggle on if the episode contains explicit content.

  10. To add a custom thumbnail to display on YouTube:
    1. Under Video thumbnail, click theplus.svgplus icon.
    2. In the file picker, choose a JPG or PNG image from your computer.
      Thumbnails must be under 2 MB, ideally 1280x720px.
  11. Click Publish.

Schedule a future publishing date and time

To schedule an episode, you must be connected to at least one listening platform.

  1. Follow steps 1–11 above.

  2. Click Schedule.

  3. Under Schedule publishing, select a date, time, and time zone.

  4. Click Schedule.

  5. Click Save.

Icon.svg Good to know

  • When scheduling an episode for publishing, note that it can take up to one hour after the scheduled time for the episode to appear on listening platforms.
  • It is not possible to replace an episode’s audio or video file. 
  • You can schedule the future publishing of an episode if it is currently unpublished.
    However, you cannot schedule an episode that is currently published.
  • When you publish a video episode to Spotify, the video won't automatically appear on Spotify. By default, only the audio will be published. However, you can still add the video manually via Spotify for Creators.
  • If an episode is marked as Published on Riverside and more than 3 hours have passed without it appearing on a connected listening platform, reach out to Support.
