Embed a video or podcast episode

Put your Riverside recordings and episodes on any web page and track exactly how they perform.

Create and get the embed code

  • From an exported video

    Embed a video or podcast episode_from_exports_200726_1.gif
    1. Log in to your Riverside account.
    2. Navigate to the relevant studio.
    3. Select the relevant project.
    4. From the top menu, click Exports.
    5. In the bottom-right corner of the video, click Share.
    6. Click Embed.
    7. To add a custom thumbnail:
      • In the top left corner of the preview window, click the image-01.svg photo icon. 
      • In the file picker, choose a JPG or PNG image from your computer.
        Thumbnails must be 2MB or smaller.
    8. Next to Accent color, enter a color Hex code (e.g. #0000FF).
      The accent color sets the color of the player's progress bar. 
      Changing the accent color is available on Business plans only.
    9. Next to Hide Riverside logo, enable or disable the Riverside logo from the embed player. 
      Hiding the logo is available on Business plans only.
    10. Click Save.
      The new embed is added to your Embeds list.
    11. In the embed pop-up, click Copy embed code.
      Paste the code into your website where you want the recording to appear. Your recording now plays directly on your page, and you can track its performance from the Embed Analytics.
       
  • From Hosting

    1. Log in to your Riverside account.
    2. Navigate to the relevant studio.
    3. From the sidebar on the left, click Hosting.
    4. At the top of the page, click the Video hosting tab.
    5. Click + Create embed.
    6. In the New embed window, click the + icon to select a recording to embed.
      In the Select file window, search by name or filter by the project or by newest/oldest recording.
    7. In the New embed panel, under Title, enter the name of the embedded recording.
    8. To add a custom thumbnail:
      • In the top left corner of the preview window, click the image-01.svg photo icon. 
      • In the file picker, choose a JPG or PNG image from your computer.

    9. Next to Accent color, enter a color Hex code (e.g. #0000FF).

  • From a published episode

    1. Log in to your Riverside account.
    2. Navigate to the relevant studio.
    3. From the sidebar on the left, click Hosting.
    4. To the right of the published episode, click ••• [the three dots].

    5. Click Embed.
    6. To add a custom thumbnail:
      • In the top left corner of the preview window, click the image-01.svg photo icon. 
      • In the file picker, choose a JPG or PNG image from your computer.

    7. Next to Accent color, enter a color Hex code (e.g. #0000FF).

Edit the embedded video

  1. In the top right corner of the embed pop-up, click the edit pencil.svg edit icon. 
  2. Change the thumbnail, title, accent color, or logo setting.
    Changing the accent color and hiding the Riverside logo is available on Business plans only.
  3. Click Save.
    To delete the embed, click ••• [the three dots] next to the edit pencil.svg edit icon and click Remove. 

Icon.svg Good to know

  • Your embed code never changes. Any changes you make to the embed settings automatically update anywhere the code is pasted.
  • Deleting the original recording in Riverside does not break a live embed. Existing embeds keep playing.
  • The embed works on standard web pages that support HTML embeds. Content streams at the exported quality.
  • There is no limit on the number of simultaneous viewers or total viewers of the embedded video/podcast.
