Set custom file names for production

Set the default naming convention for the media you download from Riverside so the files can be more easily integrated into your post-production workflow.

The custom name applies to individual high-quality tracks, shared media tracks, cloud recordings, and transcription files.

Step by step

  1. On a computer, log in to your Riverside account.
  2. In the top left corner, click the current studio.
  3. Hover over the relevant production.
  4. Click ••• [the three dots]
  5. Click Settings.
  6. Under General, click File names.
  7. Under Custom file names, click Edit.
  8. Click and drag the naming elements to rearrange them
  9. Click + Add to choose additional naming elements.
  10. To the right of the sample file name, click the - button to choose a separator: hyphens, spaces, or underscores.

  11. Click Save.

Available naming elements include:

  • Date & time: When the recording took place
  • Sequence number: A unique number assigned to the track
    • Available only for recordings created after June 2023
  • Custom free text: Specific text you want to include
  • Production name: The name of the production
  • Studio name: The name of the studio
  • Recording name: The name of the recording
  • Guest names: All files, whether it's the individual track files or the All participant track file, include all the names of anyone in the recording
  • Participant name: The individual track files (ie the tracks created for each person recording) only include the name of the person who's track it is
  • Export type: The format of the file you're exporting (CFR MP4, WAV, MP3, MP4)

  • If you do not create a custom filename, the default naming for downloaded files in a Business account is Recording name + Date and time + Sequence number. By default, each recording is given a name that contains the names of all the participants.
