The macOS desktop app is optimized for quick, solo, screen-first recordings. When you record using the app, Riverside captures your screen locally in high quality and saves it as a separate track, making it easy to create clean screen-based videos without setting up a full studio.

Step by step
- On a computer, open the Riverside desktop MacOS app.
The app opens in screen share mode. - To change what you want to record, Click Screen and from the dropdown and select:
- Screen: Record a specific screen
- Window: Record an entire window
- If this is your first time sharing your screen, macOS will prompt you to allow screen access.
Click Allow or Open System Settings.- If necessary, follow these steps to allow permissions within your System Settings.
- Click Record Screen.
Riverside records your screen share as a high quality local track.
Good to know
- Screen shares recorded with the macOS desktop app do not include system audio.
- You can also record solo with the macOS desktop app.
