Record in-person with multiple guests
To record face-to-face with in-person guests, follow the steps for a computer browser or the Mac app.

Record with one camera and two microphones
Record from one computer with a shared camera and two microphones. This creates fully separate audio tracks while sharing one camera feed.
- Connect your microphones:
- If using XLR mics, connect them through an audio interface.
- If using USB mics, plug them directly into your computer.
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Click Record to open a studio session.
- Select your camera, microphone, and speaker.
- For speaker, connect and select headphones.
- Join the session as the host.
- From the People panel, click +Add in-person guest.
- If echo-cancellation is turned on, it must be turned off to support in-person guests. In the pop-up, click Add in-person guest.
- Under In-Person, choose the guest's inputs.
Camera: Use the same shared camera.
Microphone: Assign a different mic from the host’s. If using an audio interface, select the device, then choose individual channels and assign one to each participant.
Speaker: Connect and select headphones.
Click Record.

Record with multiple cameras and microphones
Record from the Riverside Mac app using one computer with up to four cameras and four microphones. This creates separate audio and video tracks.
- Connect your microphones:
- If using XLR mics, connect them through an audio interface.
- If using USB mics, plug them directly into your computer.
- Connect your cameras:
- If using USB cameras, plug them directly into your computer.
- To connect other cameras, use a capture card.
- Open the Riverside Mac app.
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Click Record to open a studio session.
- Select your camera, microphone, and speaker.
- For speaker, connect and select headphones.
- Join the session as the host.
- From the People panel, click Add in-person guest.
- Under In-Person, choose the guest's inputs.
Camera: Assign a different camera from the host's to capture separate video tracks. Otherwise, choose the same camera as the host.
Microphone: Assign a different mic from the host’s. If using an audio interface, select the device, then choose individual channels and assign one to each participant.
Speaker: Connect and select headphones.
- If the guest is not wearing headphones, turn on Echo cancellation.
For best quality audio, all in-person participants should wear headphones and turn off Echo cancellation. To add additional guests, click Add in-person guest and select their inputs.
Click Record.
- Connect your microphones:
Record a hybrid session (in-person + remote)
Record with in-person participants while bringing in remote guests at the same time. Riverside captures everyone and generates separate recording tracks for each participant.
Step by step
- Set up your in-person participants first. Follow the steps in record in-person with guests to connect your mics and camera, select inputs, and assign channels.
In the people tab, click + Add Participant.
Select Remote guest.
Invite your guest using the invite link or by sending an email invite.
Click Record.
Good to know
- All in-person participants should wear headphones. Speakers are disabled to prevent echo during recording, and in hybrid sessions, headphones also let in-person participants hear the remote guest.
You can:- Connect headphones through an audio interface
- Use a splitter
- Share earbuds
- On the computer browser, up to 2 input channels are supported for audio interfaces. If the interface has more channels, only connect and select channels 1 and 2. Other channels won’t be available.
- Echo cancellation must be turned off to support in-person guests.
- Up to 10 remote guests can join a hybrid session.
- 4K is not currently supported in the Mac app.
