- Otherwise, set the Direct Monitor switch to MONO mode (○), rather than STEREO mode so you hear the participants' output in both left and right channels in your headphones.
Troubleshooting - Once the Scarlett is connected to your computer, confirm that the USB LED in the top-right corner is glowing green.

If you cannot be heard in the Studio:
- Click the lock icon in the browser's address bar to confirm that Riverside and your browser have permission to access the mic (and audio interface).
- Check the mic/input sensitivity in the computer's settings.
- On a Mac, also confirm that the mic is not muted in the Audio MIDI Setup app.
- Adjust the gain knob of your microphone.
- If recording with a vocal mic, you will generally not need to activate the Instrument or Air buttons.
- You only need to activate the 48V (phantom power) button if using a condenser microphone.
- Each gain knob's LED ring glows green when there is an input signal present. It turns amber if the signal is close to clipping and red when there is digital clipping.
- If the audio signal is clipping, position the microphone further away from you or turn the gain down.

- On the Riverside iOS app, you may see a pop-up message 'Wired Connection' in the Studio. Tap No to use the RODECaster Duo as both microphone and headphones.
You can also install Rode Central on your computer to quickly configure the RODECaster Duo's settings.
Recommendations - Connect the RODECaster Duo to your computer using its USB ➀ port and choose RØDECaster Duo Main as the computer's audio input and output.
- Also choose RØDECaster Duo Main as the audio input and output in the Riverside Studio.
- Otherwise, on the touchscreen, tap
Settings > Outputs and tap the Mix-minus tab to choose it.
- On your computer, select RØDECaster Duo Main as the audio input and output in Riverside.
- If needed, you can also record in multitrack to a MicroSD card.
Please note: If connecting more than one audio source to the RODECaster, choose RØDECaster Duo Chat, which outputs two channels (stereo) to your computer.

- The Pro II Chat is optimized for communications platforms like Riverside. It is configured for stereo output (rather than multitrack output) and has mix-minus enabled by default to minimize echo.
- If needed, you can also record in multitrack to a MicroSD card in the RODECaster Pro II.
- On the Riverside iOS app, you may see a pop-up message 'Wired Connection' in the Studio.
- Tap No to use the RODECaster Pro II as both your microphone and headphones.
Troubleshooting - If using a Mac, you may not immediately see the RODECaster Pro II after connecting it. In the Mac's menu bar, click on the Sound icon, and select Sound Settings/Audio Preferences to see all available devices.
- If 'RODECaster Pro II Chat' is not listed, try reconnecting and check that you are using its USB ➀ output.
- Install Rode Central on your computer to quickly configure the Rodecaster's settings.

Universal Audio – Apollo Twin X
Compatibility with Riverside Computer Browser
Some Riverside users have had connectivity issues with UA devices, although other users have been able to record with UA devices. Universal Audio devices do not officially support the ability to send an audio signal to web browsers.

Troubleshooting If you cannot get Riverside to recognize the Apollo Twin interface in your browser:
- Check that you have the latest UA drivers installed on your computer.
- Check that you have the latest UA firmware installed on your interface.
- Try using virtual audio software.
- For example, route audio from the UA interface into this software, then from that software to Riverside. Select the software as the audio input on Riverside.

Mobile recommendations - Connect XLR mics to input jacks 1-2 and connect headphones to phone jacks 1-2.

Connect the mobile device to the TRRS port on the right side of the Podtrak with a male-to-male TRRS (stereo headphone) cable.
- Depending on your mobile device, you may also need to use a TRRS to Lightning or TRRS to USB-C adapter.

Set the switch under input knob 3 to
Mobile Device.
- A mono signal is sent from the Podtrak to the device. Mix-minus is applied to the audio.
- In the Riverside iOS app, you may see a pop-up message 'Wired Connection' in the Studio.
- Tap No to use the Podtrak as both microphone and headphones.
Troubleshooting - If you hear an echo even with Mix-minus applied, stop the recording and connect your headphones directly into your computer instead of the Podtrak.
- On Riverside, select your headphones as the audio output and Zoom P4 Audio as the input.
