Computer Browser

Performance and efficiency

 

 

Computer Browser

  • Use the latest version of the browser.
  • Do not use Incognito/Private mode.
  • **Safari cannot be used to log in or access the dashboard or editor. To record in the studio with Safari, you must join using a studio link and stay on the Riverside tab while recording.

Storage

We recommend having at least 5 GB of free space on your browser.

If you plan to record for more than 1.5 hours during one session, check how much temporary storage space your browser can access.

Internet Connection

We recommend using a connection with a download speed faster than 10 Mbps and an upload speed faster than 5 Mbps.

Test your internet speed here or run a pre-call test in your browser.

For best results, turn off any network firewalls or VPN.

 

MacOS Desktop App

Download the Riverside MacOS Desktop app to record directly from your Mac.

If recording video, use a computer with M1 and above.

Storage

For optimal performance, ensure that you’re only filling up ¾ of your device's total storage space (ex.: 375 GB of 500 GB).

If you plan to record for more than 1.5 hours during one session, check how much storage space your mac has

  • What browsers and computers are not supported?

    We do not recommend using the below browsers, devices, or hardware. You may encounter recording errors before, during, or after the session that make your recorded tracks unusable.

    Unsupported Browsers

    • Beta release versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, like Chrome Canary.
    • All Mobile browsers, including mobile app versions of Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
    • Firefox
    • Internet Explorer
    • Chromium-based browsers
    • Brave
      • Although some people record successfully using Brave, we do not officially support it. For best results, please use Chrome and Edge.
    • Arc
    • Opera
    • Vivaldi

    Riverside is supported on the Google Chrome and the Microsoft Edge browsers on computers or using the Riverside mobile app.

    If you're using a Mac, use the Riverside MacOS Desktop app.

    Unsupported Computers

    • Computers using the Linux operating system.
    • Computers using the ChromeOS/Chromium operating system.
      • For example, smart whiteboards
    • Chromebooks and Chromebox PCs.
      • Although these computers use Chrome, they are not currently supported by Riverside for recording.
    • Computers accessed using a remote desktop application.
    • ARM computers with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processors
    • Apple Vision Pro
