Test external mic compatibility with Riverside Mobile App

Follow the steps below to check if your external microphone will work in the Riverside mobile app.

IMPORTANT: 
Bluetooth headphone support depends on the operating system.
On iOS 26 and later, you can use Bluetooth headphones for audio output while using an external microphone.
On Android and iOS 25 and earlier, wired headphones are required.

Steps

  1. Ensure the Riverside app is up to date. If not, go to the app store to download the latest version.
  2. Close all other applications on your phone.
  3. Turn off all other bluetooth devices that are connected to your phone that aren't relevant to the recording session.
  4. Connect the desired mic to the mobile device.
  5. Launch a video call app.
  6. Using the service, call a contact.
  7. Speak into the microphone.
  8. Listen for an audio reply through your mobile device.
    If the other person can hear you and you can also hear them using a video call app on your mobile device, the external microphone likely works using the Riverside mobile app.
