Performance and efficiency

Computer browser

Storage

We recommend having at least 5 GB of free space on your browser.

If you plan to record for more than 1.5 hours during one session, check how much temporary storage space your browser can access.

Internet connection

We recommend using a connection with a download speed faster than 10 Mbps and an upload speed faster than 5 Mbps.

Test your internet speed here or run a pre-call test in your browser.

For best results, turn off any network firewalls or VPN.

Mac app

Download the Riverside Mac app to record directly from your Mac.

  Requires Notes

System

If recording video, use a computer with M1 and above.

Storage

For optimal performance, ensure that you’re only filling up ¾ of your device's total storage space (ex.: 375 GB of 500 GB).

If you plan to record for more than 1.5 hours during one session, check how much storage space your mac has.

Internet connection

We recommend using a connection with a download speed faster than 10 Mbps and an upload speed faster than 5 Mbps.

We recommend having at least 5 GB of free space on your device.

Internet connection

We recommend using a connection with a download speed faster than 10 Mbps and an upload speed faster than 5 Mbps.

Test your internet speed here.

For best results, turn off any network firewalls or VPN.

Please note: Mobile browsers cannot be used to record, such as Edge and Chrome mobile browsers.

Editing

To edit in your browser, make sure your computer meets these requirements. You can also access the full Riverside editor in the Riverside Mac app.

  Requires Notes

Browser

Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a computer, version 110 or newer.  If your browser version is older, an unsupported browser page opens instead of the editor.

Hardware acceleration

Turn on hardware acceleration in your browser settings.  The editor uses your computer’s graphics card to display your preview.

Memory

The editor has no minimum memory (RAM) requirement. It adjusts to the memory your computer has available, so playback quality may be lower on computers with less memory.

To make your editing process smoother, close apps and browser tabs you aren’t using.
