Use Riverside to record yourself at a convenient time and share the footage with whoever invited you. You can also use the teleprompter or share your screen while you record. 

Device: Computer browser and Riverside mobile app

Step by step

Follow the steps below based on if you're using a computer or your mobile device.

  • Record async from a computer

    Join the studio and set up mic and camera

    1. On a computer, open the invite link you received in a Chrome or Edge browser.
      The invite URL looks like:
      https://riverside.fm/async-recording/invitation/bbee2ebli......62f
    2. On the Welcome to Riverside! screen, click Start setup.
    3. Under Check your mic and camera, choose your computer's built-in hardware, or select from other connected recording equipment.

    4. Speak into the mic and check that the audio meter reacts. solo-audio-viz.gif
    5. Click Next.
    6. Bring the camera to your eye level and center yourself in the frame.
    7. Click Next.
      Continue below.

    Record short A/V test (optional)

    1. When you are ready to begin, click Record and start speaking.

    2. After 15-30 seconds, click Stop and review recording preview.
    3. Click Record again to delete the test recording and start over.
    4. Make any necessary adjustments to your camera angle or mic position.
      Repeat the above steps to do another test if needed, then continue below.

    Record yourself

    1. At the bottom of the screen, click Record and start speaking.
    2. When you are finished, click Stop.
    3. After the preview finishes generating, click the thumbnail to watch it (optional).
      • Click Record again to erase the footage and start over (optional).
    4. Type in your name and email address.
      This helps distinguish the files for the host and provides contact information to the host, if needed.
    5. Click Send recording.
      Keep the Riverside page open in your browser until the upload finishes and you see Your recording is sent. 

  • Record async from your phone

    Join the studio and set up mic and camera

    1. Download and launch the Riverside iOS app or the Riverside Android app.
    2. Open the invite link you received.
      The invite URL looks like:
      https://riverside.fm/async-recording/invitation/bbee2ebli......62f
    3. Under Let's get started, enable access to the prompted permissions.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Once your'e ready, Click I'm ready.

    Record yourself

    1. At the bottom of the screen, click Record and start speaking.
    2. When you’re finished, click Stop.

    3. Click the video to preview it.
      To erase the footage and start over, click Retake at the bottom of the screen.

    4. If you're satisfied with the result, click Continue.

    5. Enter your name and email address to help distinguish the files for the host and provide contact information if needed.

    6. Click Send Recording.

    Record yourself - landscape 

    1. Tilt your phone to record in landscape mode.
    2. On the right side of the screen, click the Group 672972443.svg Record icon and start speaking.
    3. When you’re finished, click the Group 672972444.svg Stop icon.

    4. Click the video to preview it.
      To erase the footage and start over, click Retake at the top left corner.

    5. If you're satisfied with the result, click Continue.

    6. Enter your name and email address to help distinguish the files for the host and provide contact information if needed.

    7. Click Send Recording.

Icon.svgGood to know

  • You can record as many times as you want. However, only the last recording you make will be shared.
  • Before you begin recording your entire segment, do a short recording to check your camera and mic setup, then review the test.
  • Screen sharing is not available on mobile.
