Background effects in the editor

Use background removal and blur effects to create a cleaner look and added privacy, without the need for extra tools or a green screen.

Background effects in the editor.gif Step by step

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Open a recording in the editor.
  3. Click on the speaker's tile in the video canvas.
  4. Above the speaker's tile, click effects.svg the effects icon.
  5. To make blue the background or make it transparent: 
    • Click the blur.svg Subtle blur icon for a light polish.
    • Click the blur-2.svg Full blur icon to apply a strong blur effect to your background.
    • Click the transparent.svg Transparent icon to remove the background completely. 
  6. To replace the background:
    • On the panel under Backgrounds, choose a background.
    • To upload a custom background, click theplus.svgplus button.
      Choose a PNG or JPG image file from your computer.
  7. To remove an effect, click the slash-circle-01.svg None icon. 

Icon.svg Good to know

  • Background effects are only supported for tracks recorded on Riverside in a web browser and cannot be applied to external uploads.
