Change your layout in the studio (guests)

As a guest, you can customize your layout view during a live studio session without affecting anyone else. By default, your layout follows the host's, but you can switch to an independent view at any time, or return to following the host.

Step by step

1. Join a studio as a guest.
2. At the bottom of the studio, click Layout.
3. To follow the host's layout, click the first tile.
   This syncs your view with whatever layout the host has selected, and updates automatically if the host changes it.

4. Or, choose your own layout from the available options below. Selecting any layout gives you an independent view that won't change if the host changes theirs.

   • Full screen: Shows one speaker in the full frame. Displays 1 participant.
   • Grid fill: Shows all participants equally, with each video filling its frame. Displays up to 100 participants.
   • Split screen: Displays one speaker in a larger frame beside another in a narrower frame. Displays up to 100 participants.
   • Grid fit: Shows all participants equally, with each video fit to the screen (no cropping). Displays up to 100 participants.
   • Picture-in-picture circle: Displays the active speaker or screen share in full screen, with others in small circular insets. Displays 1 participant.
   • Picture-in-picture portrait: Displays the active speaker or screen share in full screen, with others in small vertical portrait frames. Displays 1 participant.
   • Picture-in-picture side: Shows the active speaker or screen share in full screen, with others in a horizontal strip on the side. Displays up to 1 participant.

   Or use the keyboard shortcuts to switch between layouts. 

Expand and pin a participant's video tile

1. Join a studio as the guest.
2. Hover over the participant's tile you want to fill the screen with.
3. Click thePin icon.
   The selected speaker is displayed prominently, with the other participants shown in a narrow column on the right.
4. Click the Unpin icon to revert. 

View a participant's video tile in full screen

1. Join a studio as the guest.
2. Right-click or Ctrl-click on one of the video tiles.
3. Click Full screen view.
    
   If you view your own video in full screen, it displays the video without mirroring.
4. Press the esc key to exit the full screen.

Good to know

• Your layout choices are only visible to you and do not affect other participants' layouts.
• Click the pin icon to highlight video tile. These changes are only visible on your own screen and will not be reflected to other participants.
