Start a screen share to show participants content from your computer screen and record it as a separate track.

Step by step

If you are using a Mac and have not shared your browser's screen before, enable it in System Settings, then quit and reopen the browser. Set this up before you start recording.

  1. Using a supported browser or the MacOS app, join a Riverside studio.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, click Share and choose Screen.
  3. In the pop-up, choose the source: an individual browser tab, a specific window, or the entire screen.
  4. Next to Also share tab audio, click the toggle to include the screen share's sound
    Please note that at this time, you cannot share the screen share's audio if you are recording using the MacOS app. 
  5. Click the Share button to confirm.
    Your screen is visible to all other participants, including those using the mobile app.

Icon.svg Good to know

  • For high quality screen share tracks, use Chrome or the MacOS app when screen sharing. These tracks will not have a cloud recording. 
    • Screen sharing when using Safari or Edge will only provide a cloud recording.
  • The quality of the screen share audio tracks depends on the internet connection of the participant sharing their screen.
  • While recording, do not change the size of the shared browser window. 
    • Otherwise, each time you change the window's dimensions, a new video track of the shared screen is created using its new resolution, including its height and width.
  • The studio logo is not visible during screen sharing.
  • For best results, to share a video, use the Media board.
