Remove individual silences and pauses

Use the editor to cut pauses, gaps, and silences from your recording. This can make your content feel faster-paced and more engaging. You can also remove all silences and pauses at once.

  • Steps on computer browser

    1. Log in

       to your Riverside account.

    2. Open a recording in the editor

       or 

      upload an external file to start editing

    3. In the transcript, double-click a silent moment represented by symbols such as •, ••, or ••• (indicating different pause lengths).
    4. Click the delete-remove_trash.svg Delete icon to remove the selected pause.
      Removed silences and pauses appear in gray with a strikethrough.

    To restore a deleted pause, make sure your transcript shows deleted text, then click the grayed-out pause in the transcript and select revert-edit.svg Restore.

    • Open a recording from the Android mobile app.
      On the Android mobile app, you can create new edits, but you are not able to make changes to in-progress edits made on a computer.
    • Tap Group 672972443.svgCut at the bottom of the screen.
      You are redirected to an editable version of the transcript. 
    • In the transcript, tap a silent moment represented by symbols such as •, ••, or ••• (indicating different pause lengths).
    • Tap Icon (4).svg Delete at the bottom of the screen to remove the selected pause.
      Removed silences and pauses appear in gray with a strikethrough .
    • To restore a deleted pause, tap the grayed-out pause in the transcript, then selectflip-backward.svgRestore.
