« To Riverside editor: Overview
Create shorter highlights or remove unwanted footage from any part of the recording in the Editor using the timeline's trimming handles and the Split tool. When you export the clip, Riverside only includes the timeline sections highlighted in purple that you have not removed.

Steps on a computer
Split
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- Click or drag the playhead scrubber to a point on the timeline.
- Above the timeline, click
Split or press the S key on your keyboard.
The media is divided into sections at the playhead. - Click a section to select it and click
Delete to remove it.
Trim
- Click and drag the trimming handles of a section to adjust its in- and out-points.
- To restore a section you removed, drag the trimming handles of the neighboring sections back together, or click the
Undo button at the top of the page.
When you play back the recording in the editor or export it as a clip, all removed sections are skipped.

Steps on a phone
- Open a recording from the Riverside mobile app.
- Tap the
Trim icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Use the trimming handles to adjust the in-and-out-points of the recording. Your changes are saved automatically.
You can also select preset trim options for 15, 30, or 60 seconds. -
To continue editing, tap the
Back icon at the bottom of the screen.
- To restore a section you removed, tap the
Trim icon, then drag the trimming handles of the neighboring sections back together.
- To export, tap the
Export icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Good to know
You can also edit the clip's timeline using the transcript.
Select the specific audio, video , or media track to split that specific track only. If no track is selected, then the split will apply to all tracks at the playhead.
- Currently, you cannot split a clip on mobile.
