Add your own chapters to a recording to quickly navigate, group, and rearrange your content in the Editor.

Add a new chapter
Add a new chapter from the transcript or timeline to mark key moments in your edit.

Add a chapter using the timeline
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- Click the playhead and move it to where the new chapter should start.
- Above the timeline, click the
chapter icon.
Or, click the + Add chapter button.

Add a chapter using the transcript
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- Click and highlight a section of text.
- On the context menu, click
Add.
- Click New chapter.
A new chapter is created that includes the highlighted text.
Remove a chapter
Delete a chapter directly from the transcript or timeline and keep its content in your edit.

- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- Hover your cursor over a chapter tab in the timeline.
- Click ••• [the three dots].
- Click
Remove chapter.
The earlier chapter expands to include the content of the removed chapter.

The earlier chapter expands to include the content of the removed chapter.
Good to know
- Recordings made after November 22, 2023, include AI-generated chapters automatically. For recordings made earlier than this date, you can add chapters manually.

If you delete parts of the recording, click Revert to restore them along with their original chapters. Dragging the deleted clips back to the timeline will not restore the chapters automatically.
