Remove any part of your recording from the transcript or directly on the timeline, and keep your edit focused by hiding cuts until you need to adjust them.

Steps on a computer
From the transcript
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- In the transcript, click and drag across the words you want to remove.
- In the toolbar that appears above your selection, click the
delete icon, or press Backspace on your keyboard.
The selected text shows a strikethrough, and the section is removed from the timeline so only the content you're keeping is shown.
From the timeline
- On the timeline, click and drag across the section you want to remove.
Riverside highlights the matching text in the transcript. - Press Backspace on your keyboard.

Steps on the iOS mobile app
- Open a recording from the iOS mobile app.
- At the bottom of the screen, tap the Ask Co-Creator text field.
- Use the Riverside Co-Creator to remove a word or phrase from your clip.

Steps on the Android mobile app

Open a recording from the Android mobile app.
On the Android mobile app, you can create new edits, but you are not able to make changes to in-progress edits made on a computer. - Tap
Cut at the bottom of the screen.
You are redirected to an editable version of the transcript. - To remove a word, tap the word you want to delete, then tap
Delete.
- To remove multiple words, tap the first word you want to remove, then extend your selection by tapping either the word to the left or right of it. Once the words are selected, tap
Delete.
- To remove a phrase or paragraph, zoom out of the transcript by tapping A at the bottom of the screen. Tap on the phrase or sentence, then tap
Delete.
- Tap Save at the top left of the screen.
- Phrases and sections you remove are shown in gray with a strikethrough.

Open a recording from the Android mobile app.
Refine cuts
- Log in to your Riverside account on a desktop device.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- On the timeline, hover over a cut.
- Click Refine cut.
- Click and drag the trimming handles of a section to adjust its in- and out-points.
- Click Done.
Good to know
The transcript words appear directly on the waveform, so you can see exactly which words you're trimming in or out.
