Remove any part of your recording from the transcript or directly on the timeline, and keep your edit focused by hiding cuts until you need to adjust them.

Steps on a computer
From the transcript
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- In the transcript, click and drag across the words you want to remove.
- In the toolbar that appears above your selection, click the
delete icon, or press Backspace on your keyboard.
The selected text shows a strikethrough, and the section is removed from the timeline so only the content you're keeping is shown.
From the timeline
- On the timeline, click and drag across the section you want to remove.
Riverside highlights the matching text in the transcript. - Press Backspace on your keyboard.

Steps on a phone
- Open a recording from the Riverside mobile app.
- Tap Edit at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap
Cut icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the word(s) you want to cut.
Drag to select multiple words. - Tap Delete at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Save in the top right corner to apply your changes.
- To restore a section you removed, tap
Cut icon, tap the word and tap Restore at the bottom of the screen.
Refine cuts
- Log in to your Riverside account on a desktop device.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- On the timeline, hover over a cut.
- Click Refine cut.
- Click and drag the trimming handles of a section to adjust its in- and out-points.
- Click Done.
