Add zoom effects in the editor

Add motion to an image overlay, video overlay, or participant tile by animating a zoom and pan across the frame.

Step by step

  1. Log in to your Riverside account.
  2. Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
  1. On the canvas, click the image overlay, video overlay, or participant tile you want to animate.
  2. Above the canvas, click the Animate.svg Animation icon.
  3. From the Animation panel, click Zoom & pan +. 
    The canvas switches to a framing view with a grid overlay, and a toolbar appears with Start, End, a zoom slider, and an easing option.
  4. In the toolbar, click Start to set the opening frame.
  5. Drag on the canvas to pan, and drag the zoom slider (or enter a percentage) to zoom in or out.
  6. Click End and repeat step 7 to set the closing frame. By default, End starts out matching Start until you adjust it.
  7. On the timeline, drag the End diamond to set how long the effect plays, and drag the Start diamond to move when it begins.
  8. From the dropdown, choose an easing style: Ease in, Ease out, Ease in & out, or Linear. By default, this is set to Ease in & out.
  9. Click Done to save the zoom effect, or Cancel to discard it.

Edit or delete a zoom effect

  1. In the Animation panel, hover over the zoom effect's row.
  2. Click the settings-04.svg Edit icon to reopen it with its saved framing and timing.
  3. Click the trash.svg Delete icon to remove it.

Good to know Icon.svg Good to know

  • Zoom effects work on image overlays, video overlays, and participant tiles. Text overlays only support entry and exit animations, not zoom effects.
  • You can add more than one zoom effect to the same overlay, but their timeline ranges can't overlap.
