Before you start
To live stream to YouTube, you must:
- Verify your channel. It can take 24 hours or more for YouTube to verify your account.
- Make sure you are the owner of the channel you want to stream to. If you are not the owner, you can connect your account via RTMP.
- Remove any live streaming restrictions on your account.
- If your channel is monetized, make sure is in good standing. Some live features require an active AdSense account.
- Enable standard and intermediate features in your YouTube channel settings.
- Note the additional requirements for live streaming from a mobile device.
Set up the live stream connection to Youtube and go live
If your YouTube account is already connected, start from step 12 to go live in the studio.
- Join a studio as a host or producer.
- At the top of the studio, click +Live stream.
Or click theadd live stream destination icon.
- Next to Live stream to social, click the toggle
to turn it on.
- Select
YouTube.
- In the pop-up, under the details on Google's User Data Policy, tick the box next to I agree.
- Click Continue.
- In the new window, sign in to your YouTube account.
- Click Connect.
- Under Select what Riverside.fm can access, tick the box next to Manage your YouTube account.
- Click Continue.
- Click the YouTube channel you want to stream to and click Done.
- Go back to the studio.
- Next to the
YouTube logo, make sure it is
toggled on.
- Add a title and description for the stream.
- Access the Live Streaming dashboard from YouTube.
- From the Stream Key dropdown menu, select “Welcome to our live show!”
- This placeholder title will be replaced by the title of your stream.

Set the privacy settings of the live stream on YouTube.
If you want to stream privately, you must configure the settings on Youtube to private as well as within Riverside. - At the bottom of your Riverside studio, click Go live.
- Click Start recording to start the live stream.
It can take around 30 seconds for the video to appear on Youtube.
Good to know
- If you've never live-streamed to YouTube before, run a test stream at least 24 hours before any scheduled streams. For first time streamers, Youtube takes 24 hours to activate.
