If you've already scheduled a Facebook Live event and want to use Riverside to stream, you can connect your studio to the event via RTMP by following the steps below.
Who: Hosts and producers
Plan: Live, Webinar, and Business
Device: Computer browser
Step by step
- Log in to Facebook.
- On the home page, next to What's on your mind?, click the icon for Live video.
- In the dropdown Choose where to post, select your final stream destination.
- Under Create live video event, click Create event.
- In the panel on the left, enter your event details.
- Click Next.
- Click Create event.
- Click Set Up Live Video.
- In the panel on the left, click Stream setup.
- Under Select a video source, click Streaming software.
- Copy the Stream key.
- Toggle Persistent stream key on.
This may improve the longevity of your RTMP connection, however we always recommend connecting to an event with a fresh stream key every time. - Expand Advanced settings and copy the Server URL.
- Paste the Stream key and Server URL into the Riverside studio to create a new connection.
- Go live on Riverside to enable the connection between Facebook and Riverside.
On Facebook, verify the connection via the Connect video source checkmark in the panel on the left. The video should also be visible under Video at the bottom of the page.
When you're ready for the event:
- Start the stream on Riverside.
- Go to the live event on Facebook.
- Click Live video.
Your live video on Facebook may experience a few seconds of lag behind your Riverside recording.
