Live stream your Riverside recording session to LinkedIn to reach a broader audience. You can also schedule a live stream for later or stream to a LinkedIn Live Event.

Before you start

To live stream to a LinkedIn page or profile, you must have:

Note that you can only stream to one LinkedIn account or page at a time, per LinkedIn's policy.

Set up the live stream connection to your LinkedIn profile or page and go live

You only need to set up the live stream connection to LinkedIn once. Follow these steps to go live on your LinkedIn profile or page. 

To live stream to a LinkedIn Live Event, see Stream to scheduled LinkedIn Live Event.

  1. Join a studio session as the host or producer.
  2. At the top of the studio, click + Live stream.
     Or, click the justheplus.svg add live stream destination icon.
  3. Next to Live stream to social, click the toggle toggle-on.svg to turn it on.
  4. Select linkedin.svg LinkedIn.
  5. In the Connect your LinkedIn account pop-up, choose LinkedIn profile or LinkedIn page.
  6. In the new window, sign in to your LinkedIn account.
  7. Click Allow.
  8. On the Choose your LinkedIn profile page, choose your LinkedIn account. 
  9. Click Done.
  10. Add a title and description for the stream
  11. At the bottom of your Riverside studio, click Go live.
  12. Click Start recording to start the live stream.
    It can take around 30 seconds for the video to appear on LinkedIn.

Stream to scheduled LinkedIn Live Event

If you want to stream a scheduled Riverside event to an existing LinkedIn Live Event, follow the steps below to set up the connection and go live.

Please note, you can only get your stream key and URL from LinkedIn 15 minutes before you go live. For best results, retrieve the stream key and URL from LinkedIn as close to the live event as possible. 

  1. Log in to your LinkedIn account.
  2. Schedule a LinkedIn Live Event using custom RTMP.
  3. Go to Manage streams.
  4. Select the relevant event.
  5. Click Prepare to go live.
  6. Select the region you're broadcasting from.
  7. Click Get URL to get your stream key and stream URL.
    LinkedIn only provides the stream key and URL 15 minutes before the scheduled event. For best results, retrieve the stream key and URL as close to the live event as possible. 
  8. Log in to your Riverside account.
  9. Click Schedule.
  10. Enter the studio through the relevant scheduled event.
  11. In the top right corner, click + Live stream.
  12. Make sure Live stream to social is toggled on.
  13. Disable LinkedIn from live stream dropdown.
  14. Add Custom RTMP with information from the LinkedIn Live Event.
  15. Click Go live.
  16. Return to the LinkedIn Live Video broadcaster and click Go live
    The Go live button becomes available 10 minutes before the scheduled start time and remains available for up to 2 hours after.

IMPORTANT:
You must click Go live in LinkedIn to start the live stream. If you only click Go live in Riverside, the stream will not start on LinkedIn.

Icon.svg Good to know

  • Livestream event titles for LinkedIn must be under 75 characters.
  • LinkedIn’s API does not allow editing a LinkedIn Live Event, so changes made on Riverside after the event is live will not appear on LinkedIn. If you need to edit a LinkedIn Live Event, create a new event.
  • LinkedIn Live Events are limited to 4 hours per stream. This limit is set by LinkedIn and cannot be extended or changed in Riverside.
