Follow these steps when:
- Your video lags behind the audio
- The video has dropped frames
- There is an inconsistent frame rate
Likely causes:
A lagging frame rate can be caused by device strain, poor lighting, or camera settings.
Suggested troubleshooting steps
- As the host or producer, reduce the default recording quality of the studio.
- Close other tabs and programs that may be using your computer's processing power.
- If using a laptop, connect it to a power source instead of using only its battery.
- Record with a brighter lighting setup. A camera may reduce its frame rate to adapt to low light.
- Update your computer's operating system to the most recent version.
- Enable graphics (hardware) acceleration on your browser.
- Record with a DSLR camera and a video capture card if possible.
If you're using an external camera:
- Turn off your camera's auto-exposure feature.
- For example, for a Logitech camera change this setting using the Logi Tune Desktop software.
- Confirm your camera is connected directly to your computer and not through a USB hub.
- Reduce your camera's default recording resolution.
- If you're using an external DSLR or mirrorless camera, connect it to a power source.
- If you're using an Elgato Cam Link device, follow this troubleshooting.
- Consider using a different camera, joining the studio from a different computer, or using the Riverside mobile app.
