Step by step
- Join a studio as the host or producer.
- In the bottom left corner of the studio, click
Scenes.
The panel opens with three scenes ready to go: Dynamic scene (your default studio view), Scene 1, and Scene 2. - To add a new scene, click
Add scene.
You can only add a new scene before you begin a recording or livestream. - On the empty canvas, start your design by choosing between: Share screen, Present deck, Add media, or Add people to fill your first tile.
- Choose the tile layout for your scene.
- Fill the rest of the tiles in the layout.

Customize and brand your scene.
Change the design of your studio per scene. Your studio branding will be the default for a new scene.
Your scene is saved automatically as you edit it. - To switch between scenes, click a scene in the panel, or press its keyboard shortcut.
Manage your scenes
Hover over a scene and click the ••• [three dots] to:

Rename a scene:
- Hover over a scene.
- Click the ••• [three dots] below the scene card in the Scenes panel.
- From the dropdown, select
Rename.
- Enter the name you would like for the scene, up to 25 characters.
Or, leave it blank to keep the default name (Scene 1, Scene 2, and so on).
- Assign shortcut: Create a shortcut from your keyboard to switch to a scene.

Duplicate: Create a copy of the scene, including its layout, tile assignments, and branding.
The duplicate scene will have the same name with the number 2 after. - Remove: Delete the scene.

Reorder: Drag a scene up or down in the list to reorder it.
Assign a participant to a tile
Assign a participant to a scene tile once they have already joined the studio.
- Click on a scene.
- In the side panel on the right, click People.
- Click the ••• [three dots] on the participant's card.
- Select Show on stage.
If you reload or rejoin the studio, tile assignments aren't remembered. You'll need to reassign participants to their tiles.
Assign a keyboard shortcut to a scene
- Hover over a scene and click the ••• [three dots].
- Click Assign shortcut.
- In the Assign keyboard shortcut field, press a letter or number.
A single letter or number is the only accepted input. - Click Save.
To switch scenes using the shortcut, press Shift plus the scene's shortcut letter or number.
Lock your scenes
- At the top of the Scenes panel, click the
Lock all scenes icon.
While scenes are locked, any changes made on the canvas are visible live but are not saved back to the scene.
Switching scenes while locked changes the canvas to the last saved version of the selected scene. - To make changes again, click the
Unlock all scenes icon.
If a participant leaves while scenes are locked, their tile stays empty. The layout doesn't reshuffle to fill the gap.
Good to know
- Each studio can have up to 20 scenes. You'll see a notification if you reach the limit.
- Scenes are visible only to hosts and producers. Guests and your audience never see the Scenes panel.
- Every studio always has at least one scene. You can delete until you have one scene remaining.
- Scenes persist for the studio and survive a refresh or rejoin. Changes sync in real time across every host and producer in the session.
- If the Guests join backstage by default toggle in the studio settings is turned off, any new participant joins the studio layout automatically, even while scenes are locked.
- Scenes do not carry over to the editor.
