Join a studio as a host to control the studio, monitor the recording, and record yourself and any other guests. Only one person can join the studio as the host.

Join studio as a host

Step by step

Follow the steps below based on if you're using a computer or your mobile device.

  • Join a studio as a host using a computer

    1. Log in to your Riverside account on a web browser or the Mac OS app.
    2. Navigate to the relevant studio.
    3. From the side bar on the left, click Home.
    4. At the top of the page, click Record.
    5. Under Let's check your devices, enter your name.
    6. If you haven't used Riverside before, click Request Camera Permissions so the browser can access your microphone and camera. Click Allow.
    7. Use the menus to select the correct camera, microphone, and speaker.
    8. Select whether you are using headphones.
    9. On the left side of the page, preview your video. 
    10. Click Join Studio.

  • iOS

    1. Download and launch the Riverside mobile app.
    2. At the bottom of the screen, tap + Create.
    3. Tap record.png Record.
      • If you're the first person in the studio, you are immediately directed to the studio.
      • If there are participants in the studio, you are directed to the lobby. Continue to step 4.
    4. On the lobby screen, preview your video.
      If asked to grant access to the microphone and camera, tap Allow.
    5. At the bottom the screen, tap the camera-video-recorder.svgcamera or microphone-02.svgmicrophone to turn them off or on.
    6. Tap the visual-effects-wand-icon.svgmagic wand icon to:
    7. Tap Icon (5).svg to select a camera, either front-facing or back-facing.
    8. Set your device's orientation - horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait).
    9. Tap Join to enter the studio.
    10. Choose your recording mode from the bottom of the screen:

    Android

    1. Using an Android, download and launch the Riverside mobile app.
    2. At the bottom of the screen, tap + Create.
    3. Tap record.png Record.
      • If you're the first person in the studio, you are immediately directed to the studio.
      • If there are participants in the studio, you are directed to the lobby. Tap Join.
    4. Choose your recording mode from the bottom of the screen:

  • If you have sessions scheduled within the next 24 hours, you have the option to choose one when joining the studio from the homepage. To view all scheduled sessions, go to the Planner.
