Join a studio as a host

Join a studio as a host to control the studio, monitor the recording, and record yourself and any other guests. Only one person can join the studio as the host.

Step by step

Follow the steps below based on if you're using a computer or your mobile device.

  • Join a studio as a host using a computer

    1. Log in to your Riverside account on a web browser or the Mac OS app.
    2. In the relevant studio, at the top of the page, click record.png Record.
    3. On the lobby page, enter your name.
    4. Select whether you are using headphones.
    5. If you haven't used Riverside before, click Request Camera Permissions so the browser can access your microphone and camera. Click Allow.
    6. On the right side of the page, preview your video. Use the menus to select a mic, camera, and speaker.
    7. Click Join Studio.
  • iOS

    1. Download and launch the Riverside mobile app.
    2. At the bottom of the screen, tap + Create.
    3. Tap record.png Record.
    4. On the lobby screen, preview your video.
      If asked to grant access to the microphone and camera, tap Allow.
    5. At the bottom the screen, tap the camera-video-recorder.svg camera or microphone-02.svg microphone to turn them off or on.
    6. Tap the visual-effects-wand-icon.svg magic wand icon to:
    7. Tap Icon (5).svg to select a camera, either front-facing or back-facing.
    8. Set your device's orientation - horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait).
    9. Tap Join to enter the studio.
    10. Choose your recording mode from the bottom of the screen:

    Android

    1. Using an Android, download and launch the Riverside mobile app.
    2. At the bottom of the screen, tap + Create.
    3. Tap record.png Record.
    4. Choose your recording mode from the bottom of the screen:
      1. Together: Record with a guest or a producer
      2. Solo: Record alone
      3. Audio: Record audio only (disable all video)
    5. At the bottom of your screen, tap the recrod button.svg record button.
