Join a studio as a guest

« To Join a studio session: Overview

You're almost ready to join the virtual studio and start recording with your host on Riverside.

On a computer, use Chrome, Edge, or Safari (the supported web browsers), or open the Riverside MacOS desktop app.
To record on a mobile device, download the iOS or Android app.

Step by step

Follow the steps below based on if you're using a computer or your mobile device.

Join a studio as a guest using a computer
1. Click the Join session button in an invite email or click a studio access link.
2. Under Let's check your devices, enter your name.
3. If you haven't used Riverside before, click Request Camera Permissions so the browser can access your microphone and camera. Click Allow.
4. Use the menus to select the correct camera, microphone, and speaker.
5. Select whether you are using headphones.
6. On the left side of the page, preview your video.
7. Click Join Studio to join the call.
  If you see Waiting for host to accept, the session's Host or Producer needs to allow you into the Studio.
  The studio opens in a new tab.
8. After the recording ends, please leave your browser tab open until you see the Successfully uploaded ✔ confirmation.
Join a studio as a guest using your phone
1. Download and launch the Riverside iOS app or the Riverside Android app.
2. You may receive an access link from the host or an invite email from notifications@Riverside.fm.
  - If it's a studio invite link, tap the link on your mobile device.
  - If it's in an invite email, open the email on your mobile device and tap Join Session.
    The Riverside app connects to the studio.
3. On the lobby screen, preview your video and enter Your Name, and tap Done.
4. If asked to grant access to the microphone and camera, tap Allow access, then While using the app.
5. Tap the camera or microphone to turn them off or on.
6. Choose your device's orientation - horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait). (optional)
7. Tap the rotate icon to select a camera, either front-facing or back-facing. (optional)
8. Tap ••• [the three dots], then tap Use as a second camera to set up your device as a second camera. (iOS only)
9. On the bottom of the screen, tap Join to enter the studio.
10. When the host ends the recording session or after you click Leave, keep the app open until you see Upload complete!
  Relaunch the app if you closed it too early.
