Step by step
Smooth all eligible cuts at once
- Log in to your Riverside account.
- Open a recording in the editor or upload an external file to start editing.
- Edit your recording.
- Once you've finished editing, on the editor toolbar, click AI tools.
- Next to Smooth cuts, click Apply.
The AI credits cost for smoothing all eligible cuts is displayed. - When smoothing finishes, the
smooth cuts icon appears in the transcript next to each cut that was successfully smoothed.
In the AI tools panel, a checkmark and the number of cuts smoothed appear next to Smooth cuts.
Smooth a single cut
- In the transcript, click the cut you want to smooth.
- In the cut's context menu, click
Smooth.
The AI credits cost for that cut is displayed. - When smoothing finishes, the
smooth cuts icon appears next to the cut.
If the cut can't be smoothed, you'll see "This cut can't be smoothed".
Why a cut can't be smoothed
Smooth cuts skips a cut when:
- There's large movement between the frames before and after the cut.
- A different object or position appears between those frames.
- The cut is on a track that isn't supported. Smooth cuts doesn't support 4K video.
A skipped cut doesn't change anything in your edit and you aren't charged AI Credits for it. A cut without the smooth cuts icon in the transcript wasn't smoothed.
Good to know
- Smooth your cuts after you finish editing. If you smooth cuts and then edit or change them, the smoothing no longer applies to the changed cuts, and you need to smooth them again.
- You are charged only for the cuts that are actually smoothed. Credits for any cut that fails to smooth are refunded automatically
- Not every cut can be smoothed.
- Smooth cuts isn't available for audio-only recordings. It appears automatically once you add video content.
