Captions won't generate

Follow these steps when:

• You can't generate captions in the editor
• Captions aren't showing in your video preview in the editor

Likely causes:

Captions are rendered directly from the recording's transcript, so generation issues are almost always caused by a problem with the transcript.

Suggested troubleshooting steps

• Confirm the studio's transcript language matches what's actually being spoken. A studio set to the wrong language can complicate the transcript.
• Click Regenerate Transcript in the dashboard and wait 5–10 minutes.
  • If the recording was recently restored from an archive, give the transcript a few extra minutes, then manually hit Regenerate Transcript.
• Export your video again.
• On iOS, if captions disappear right after tapping Done, reopen the clip and reapply the caption style.
