Follow these steps when:
- The editor shows the message “Your graphics driver stopped responding. Quit and reopen your browser to keep editing.”
Likely causes:
- Your computer’s graphics driver stopped responding and restarted while the editor was open. When this happens, your browser turns off the graphics features the editor needs until you close the browser completely. The cause is the graphics driver on your computer, not your recording or your edit.
- An outdated graphics driver makes this more likely, especially on Windows computers with Intel graphics.
Suggested troubleshooting steps
-
Quit and reopen your browser. Close every browser window, not just the editor tab, then reopen the browser and open your edit again. Reloading the tab doesn’t clear this message.
- On a Mac, press Command + Q to quit the browser completely.
- In Chrome, you can also type
chrome://restartin the address bar and press Enter.
-
Update your graphics driver. Windows Device Manager often says no update is available even when a newer driver exists, so get the update from your graphics card maker instead:
- Intel graphics: Download and run Intel Driver & Support Assistant, then install any graphics driver updates it finds.
- NVIDIA graphics: Open the NVIDIA App (or GeForce Experience) and go to Drivers.
- AMD graphics: Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition and check for updates.
- Restart your computer after the update finishes, then open the editor again.
- Make sure that graphics acceleration is on in your browser settings. See Troubleshooting: Change browser’s graphics acceleration setting.
