Follow these steps when:
- You're having issues connecting a website to Riverside for live streaming
- You're having issues live streaming
- You get one of the following errors:
- "Couldn't connect to [platform]"
- "Something went wrong"
- "Your live stream stopped"
- "Can't stream to any destination"
Please note:
- The live stream video feed is not visible on other platforms until you start the recording on Riverside. It takes around 30 seconds for the video to appear on the destination sites.
- Producers cannot be seen and heard in the live stream, even if they turn on their camera and mic. However, participants recording in the Riverside studio can hear and see them.
Likely causes
Live streams can encounter errors when the destination account does not meet the requirements for streaming, or when the connection to the destination has been set up incorrectly.

Suggested troubleshooting steps
- Be sure you meet the requirements for live streaming to the platform.
- Make sure the Live stream toggle at the top right corner of the studio is on
.
- Remove any platforms that you do not want to stream to.
- Make sure your desired destinations show a Connected label in the live stream panel.
- Make sure your studio is set to public on Riverside and on your destination platforms.
- For one-click destinations, disconnect the relevant destination and re-add it.
- Re-authenticate the connection with the website you want to stream to.
- Add the site via RTMP, instead of through the direct a live stream connection.
- For RTMP destinations, delete the Stream Key and Stream URL and re-add them.
- Check on the website whether the Stream URL starts with RTMP:// or RTMPS://. If the URL includes the S, try removing it from the Stream URL field on Riverside.
- For RTMP destinations, start the stream on the destination as well as on Riverside. Many destinations require a manual start on the platform.
- If your stream is missing video, check if the studio's recording type is set to Audio only. If so, change it to Video & audio.
- Create a new studio and try setting up the live stream there.
- Test your connectivity to ensure a strong connection during the live stream.
